Day 6 Walking at Roehampton !

Day 6 Walking at Roehampton !

Day 6 of rehabilitation and our moods are good. There is an air of positivity about the place culminating in a wonderful moment. For the first time in eleven and a half months I stood in my new legs…and walked.

A moment filled with intrepidation, fear and sheer delight. The moment then turned to minutes. Then minutes turned to walking without guide rails and then to walking around the gym without help.

It’s nearly a year since Strep A tried to take my life and it has felt like a constant battle against all kinds of obstacles and problems ever since. The last five and a half days have changed that.Today is a small victory and one I will never ever forget.

Go Al! What I’d like to hear next is that you’ve done the MJ Moonwalk on your Rockers, or won a game of Hopscotch…maybe next week? I am really sorry BTW for stealing your eating implements last week and bringing them back to Hants. Of course I did it on purpose so you’d have to get to know your fellow Hombres or run home and get them. I heard that incentivisation was key?? OK so maybe not via potentially starving someone, especially before the legs were delivered to make running home an option – DOH!?….Luv ya & see you Sunday. I will be waiting for a kick under the table xxx
